Phil Hellmuth takes home $200K as first ever Poker Night in America event winner

In a dramatic comeback last night, "Poker Brat" Phil Hellmuth overcame a more than $194,000 deficit to defeat Daniel "Jungleman" Cates and bring home the first-ever Poker Night in America King of the Hill belt and $200,000 in winnings.

Hellmuth, who was down to just $5,800 in chips at one point, roared back to stun a live audience and poker players watching across the globe via live stream. The two days of heads-up no-limit Texas Hold'em action also included poker greats Doug Polk and Frank Kassela, and was filmed in Van Slyck's entertainment lounge at Rivers Casino & Resort Schenectady, on 22 and 23 August.

Each player put up $50,000 of his own money for the King of the Hill, bracket-style competition, which was also live streamed to the world at Twitch.

Poker fans were able to meet and greet with the players before and after the games, and Phil Hellmuth held a book signing for his new book, "Poker Brat," from the Rivers Casino Poker Room.

"We've had great crowds over the past few days, eager to meet the players and watch the action. Rivers has been the place to be for poker players and fans, and that's going to continue to be true as we kick off our Capital Region Classic tournament," said Rivers Casino & Resort General Manager Mary Cheeks.

All four world-class players remain at Rivers for the filming of Poker Night in America flagship $25/$50 No-Limit Cash Game at Van Slyck's entertainment lounge on 24 and 25 August. Local players will be competing with some of the biggest pros in the game on a live streamed and televised table.

Founded in 2013, Rush Street Productions brought America's true pastime, Texas Hold'em Poker, to television screens nationwide on CBS Sports Network with its hit series Poker Night in America. Currently in its fifth season, and with more than 150 episodes produced, Poker Night in America continues to showcase amazing cash game poker each week played by the game's best players and celebrities.

The Capital Region Classic $100K Guaranteed No Limit Texas Hold'em tournament will be held over two Days of No Limit Texas Hold'em action, with multiple Day One flights being held from 23-26 August. Players can carry their tournament chips over to Day Two (27 August) where they'll have a chance to make it all the way to the final table and vie for a piece of the guaranteed $100,000 prize and the title of Capital Region Classic champion.

Day One buy-ins cost $260 for 25,000 in tournament chips with unlimited re-entries. Players wishing to bypass earlier flights and join the action at Day Two can buy-in for $1,100 for 100,000 in tournament chips. The prize pool will be at least $100,000. If participation exceeds that figure, the pool will grow accordingly.

Players coming from out of town for the tournament will receive a 25% discount on a stay at The Landing Hotel, a newly opened, upscale boutique hotel immediately adjacent to the casino.

For those who want to play with the pros online, there is now a Poker Night in America app based on the hit TV show. Social poker players can enjoy the same poker action they watch on Poker Night as played by the game's best players and celebrities. The app features amazing prizes, including playing in live streamed poker games and a VIP grand prize package that guarantees players $5,000 in playing cash to play on Poker Night so they, too, can live like a poker star. 카지노사이트
