Daejeon Re-signs With Director Lee Min-sung
Hana Citizen of Daejeon in the K League 1 professional soccer league has renewed its contract with head coach Lee Min-sung 50.
Daejeon announced on the 1st that it will be with coach Lee Min-sung next year. The contract period was decided not to be disclosed by mutual agreement.
Manager Lee Min-sung made his professional debut as a leader in December 2020 when he took the helm of Daejeon in the K League 2 second division.
In 2021, Daejeon advanced to the promotion playoffs after finishing third in the league, but its promotion was canceled after losing to Gangwon FC. However, the following year, Daejeon won the promotion playoff against Gimcheon Sangmu after finishing second in the K League 2 and succeeded in promoting it for the first time in eight years.
Coach Lee Min-sung succeeded in staying in the K League 1 stage with attacking football. Although he finished the season in eighth place after failing to reach the Final A, he has scored 54 goals as of 37 games, ranking third in the team's scoring after Ulsan Hyundai 62 goals and FC Seoul 61 goals.
Manager Lee Min-sung, who renewed his contract with Daejeon, said, "We succeeded in staying, but it remains a regret that we did not advance to the Final A. Daejeon is a team with a high vision and goal, he said. "We will prepare well to become a stronger and more competitive team aiming to advance to the Asian Football Confederation AFC Champions League next year."
Daejeon, which will continue under coach Lee Min-sung in the 2024 season, will take a break for about a month after the match against FC Seoul on the 2nd and hold the first convocation training in Geoje, Gyeongsangnam-do on January 2 next year.
